Post race report

2015 Mainly due to the heavy fog which lay across much of the county but also the increasing  number of other sportives which have copied our End of Season date, our numbers were well down this year but yet again everyone enjoyed the route and support.

The only down side was the removal of two sets of signs, both at T junctions, which were quickly replaced.

When the fog lifted, riders were treated to blue skies and sunshine and double-figure temperatures.

2014 saw 51 riders take on this varied and scenic route out from Lenham and loop out to Faversham, Seasalter, Rough Common, Chartham, Hastingleigh, Wye, Hothfield, Pluckley and Charing before completing the 93k ride. A dry start was later replaced by a very wet (hailstones as well ! ) ride back, however even the soggy riders said they really enjoyed it. Refreshments were laid on in the hall in exchange for a donation to the Kent Air Ambulance which raised £63.47.

2013 40 riders signed up for our new Sportive – not all made it to the start line but those that did enjoyed a great new course that has many variations in scenery, some amazing descents, sea views, tree-lined woodland roads, no intense climbs – this is the “wind- down” time of the year, just good solid riding over the 93k route. The weather played its part with blue skies and sunshine for most of the morning with a stiff breeze helping everyone out to Canterbury but coming back it was just a bit testing as a headwind . Our signage is well placed and TOTW dedicated , easy to follow and hard to miss, our mid-way feed stop had so much variety it looked like a buffet , the post – event food was also well received by the hungry riders. We may well see a few more entries next year !
